London
Perhaps the most famous city in the world, London appeals to tourists and visitors from all corners of the globe. We're extremely lucky to have London right on our doorstep – and even from the most northern areas of the UK, travelling to London is fairly simple thanks to strong transport links via bus, train and air. There is a lot to see and do in London – and nothing beats walking along the Mall on a crisp, snowy day.
Paris
The city of love –renowned for its thousands of cafes, delicious pastries and expensive restaurants. Just a short hop from the south of England, getting to France is quick and easy thanks to cheap flights and brisk train journeys. Sights and attractions to see in Paris include the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland. Paris is magical and best of all it's close enough for a short weekend break, should you be that way inclined!
Edinburgh
One of the UK's most northerly, major cities – Edinburgh is a hugely popular destination for tourists from the UK and further afield. Home to hundreds of quality hotels and attractions including the Edinburgh Festival and the Fringe Festival, getting to Edinburgh is easy thanks to great coach and train links.
Cologne
If you're a big fan of traditional Christmas markets, you'll love Cologne! During November and December, Cologne plays host to half wood cabins selling everything from handmade trinkets and gifts through to mulled wine and cooked-to-perfection bratwurst (that's sausages to you and me!). Cologne is the ultimate destination for Christmas market fans – getting there is cheap and easy thanks to short flights from budget airlines that fly from various regional UK airports.
Manchester
If Cologne is a little too far for you to travel, Manchester also plays host to a fantastic Xmas market, right outside the town hall. Manchester also boasts a string of fine hotels, lots of lovely restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene. Travelling to Manchester couldn't be easier – the city is served by an international airport, and a large train terminal at Piccadilly.
Milan
Although Milan is a destination frequented by tourists throughout the summer, things tend to quieten down a little during the cold, winter months. The great thing about Milan is that many of its most popular attractions are all indoors – so while snow falls outside, you can marvel at the beauty and rich history of this city without having to endure the cold all day, every day. Milan is also located close to some of Italy's most popular mountain ski slopes – it's the perfect place to base yourself for a long weekend spent skiing.
